Eugene man arrested after approaching car, riding bike into creek; knives found
A 36-year-old Eugene man asked a passing driver to hit him, then rode his bicycle into a creek at W. 18th and Bailey Hill; officers arrested him on a disorderly conduct charge.

Nicholas Michael Jamison, 36, was arrested after approaching a motorist on a bicycle at the intersection of W. 18th and Bailey Hill Road in southwest Eugene and then riding into a creek, Eugene police said. Officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person at about 3:25 a.m. on Feb. 24 and took Jamison into custody on a disorderly conduct charge.
The motorist who called police reported that Jamison approached while the driver was passing through the area, told the motorist the police were after him and asked the driver to strike him with the vehicle. The complainant also advised that Jamison had an object in his waistband that appeared to be a firearm, according to the initial account sent to responding officers.
When an officer moved to contact Jamison, the man became vocal and physically agitated, screaming and slamming his bicycle handlebars, the police account states. The officer attempted to de-escalate, but Jamison followed the officer, then turned and rode his bicycle toward oncoming vehicles before riding into a creek near the intersection, prompting officers to move in and make an arrest.
Local news headlines reported that knives were found after Jamison rode into the creek. The initial police narrative available at the time did not detail the number, exact location, or custody status of any recovered blades, and no weapons-related charges were listed in the arrest information provided with the account. The complainant’s observation of an object appearing to be a firearm also has not been further specified in the available report.

Jamison was booked on a charge of disorderly conduct following the early-morning incident in southwest Eugene; the public-facing account did not include additional booking details such as bond status, booking time, or whether he received medical treatment after entering the creek. The report likewise does not indicate injuries to the motorist or responding officers.
Eugene Police Department incident and evidence logs should clarify the status of any recovered items, whether the object observed in Jamison’s waistband was a firearm, and whether additional charges will be filed. Those records, along with Lane County booking logs, will contain the fuller case details needed to determine whether weapons or traffic-related offenses will be added to the current disorderly conduct charge.
