Two Eugene men ended up booked at Lane County Jail within hours of each other Tuesday night after separate armed confrontations that stretched Eugene Police Department resources from downtown to the city's east side.

The first call came in at 8:55 p.m., drawing officers to 110 West Broadway after reports of a man chasing and threatening people with a knife. The suspect was uncooperative from the moment officers contacted him. After being pepper sprayed, he placed the knife at his feet and crouched over it while officers created distance and moved bystanders away from the scene. Additional units arrived, including CNT officers and less-lethal options, but the standoff dragged on. After approximately half an hour, the man attempted to grab the knife again. Officers fired several less-lethal rounds to gain compliance. He dropped the knife and ran south, where K9 Kuill immediately confronted him and drove him back toward officers. He continued to resist but was eventually taken into custody, booked initially as a John Doe because he would not identify himself.

Jail staff later identified him as 40-year-old David Glen Clark, also known as David Glen Peek. He was lodged at Lane County Jail on seven counts of Menacing, seven counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and Escape in the Third Degree. EPD logged the case as Case 26-03667.

Less than two hours later, at 10:53 p.m., officers were called to the 3600 block of Westward Ho Avenue on a report of a man fleeing from his adult son, who was described as intoxicated and armed with a handgun. By the time officers reached the area, the suspect, 25-year-old Desean Lecurtis Lemond Oroy, had already driven off in a Chevrolet Malibu. An officer spotted the vehicle at Harlow Road and Palomino Drive and initiated a high-risk stop.

Oroy stepped out of the car immediately and became hostile, taunting officers while repeatedly reaching toward his waistband and concealing his hand behind his back. Officers deployed less-lethal munitions and gained compliance. Oroy was taken into custody and transported to Lane County Jail, where he was lodged on charges including Menacing, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and DUII. He was also issued a citation for possession of a firearm without a serial number.

No injuries to officers, suspects, or bystanders were reported in either incident.
