Eugene's Street Crimes Unit arrested a suspected fentanyl dealer Thursday after surveilling a meeting between two individuals as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, seizing approximately 9.7 ounces of white powdered fentanyl, nearly $5,200 in cash, scales, drug packaging, and two loaded handguns.

Investigators had been watching 34-year-old Eugene resident Reilly Quinn Slater, whom the department identified as a believed local fentanyl dealer. During the investigation, SCU officers observed Slater meeting with 28-year-old Danitza Guadalupe Morales of Salem. Officers allowed the meeting to conclude before stopping Slater and Morales separately at different locations.

Morales was carrying eight individual packages of fentanyl totaling approximately 5.2 ounces and approximately $4,900 in cash. Slater was found with five packages containing approximately 4.5 ounces of fentanyl, more than $300 in cash, scales, and drug packaging. Officers also seized two loaded handguns from Slater.

The Eugene Police Department offered context on the seizure's street value. "For context, fentanyl sells for approximately $1,000 per ounce when purchased in that quantity," the department stated. "When broken down to street-level user quantities, the mark-up is considerable with typical street level user prices ranging from $10 to $20 for 1/10th of a gram." At bulk pricing alone, the roughly 9.7 ounces seized would represent approximately $9,700 in product before any street-level markup.

No injuries were reported in connection with the operation. The department did not release information on formal charges or booking status for either Slater or Morales. Lane County court records and jail booking logs should be consulted for updates on any filed charges.
