Eugene's Taco Time Reopens on West 11th After Nearly a Year of Renovations
Jodie McDavid says the crispy burritos at Eugene's newly renovated Taco Time are "fried fresh to order" — and after nearly a year closed, West 11th is finally back open.
The West Eugene Taco Time at 3855 W. 11th Ave. reopened to customers on March 21, two days after a renovation that morning shift manager Jodie McDavid described as closing the location for close to a year.
The fast-food chain has deep Eugene roots: the original Taco Time opened near the University of Oregon campus in 1960 and eventually grew into a chain with locations across the U.S. and Canada. Customers who noticed the West 11th location dark last fall were not imagining things. A Google reviewer noted in November 2024 that the restaurant had been undergoing maintenance and renovations since late October, writing, "I am certain they'll be back better than ever."
McDavid, who has been working at the remodeled location since it opened in January, credited the restaurant's signature menu item as the main draw separating it from nearby competitors like McDonald's, Taco Bell, Dave's Hot Chicken, and Chick-fil-A.
"The crispy burritos are famous. I don't think you can get something like that anywhere else," McDavid said. "And they're fried fresh to order."
According to the store's own description, each crisp burrito is rolled by hand, and chips and taco shells are made fresh in the kitchen every morning. Beyond the burritos, the menu includes the Chicken BLT Burrito, stuffed Mexi-Fries, a taco burger, and the chain's green sauce, which longtime fans have called "sublime." One of the more notable deals is the 3 for $8 option, which lets customers order two burritos and a side for eight dollars.
McDavid framed the appeal in terms of atmosphere as much as food. "Taco Time is a family-oriented type of place," she said. "When people come in here, we're really friendly, the food is fresh, and the customer service is top notch."
The West 11th location, listed as Store #6261 on Taco Time's website, offers dine-in, pickup, and delivery. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. New members who sign up for the TacoTime Fresh Rewards program receive 25 bonus points at enrollment.
