A pre-dawn rollover on London Road sent four people to area hospitals and shut down the rural lane county route near the 27000 block as deputies, firefighters, and crash investigators worked the scene.

Lane County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called at about 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, after reports that a vehicle had overturned in the 27000 block of London Road and that at least one person had been thrown from the car. Investigators said the driver and three passengers were taken to hospitals for treatment.

South Lane Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene and had to extricate at least one passenger from the wreckage. The Lane County Crash Reconstruction Team also responded, signaling that investigators were treating the rollover as a serious crash with enough complexity to require a detailed reconstruction of what happened in the pre-dawn darkness.

London Road was closed near the crash site while emergency crews worked. For residents, farm traffic, school runs, and commuters who rely on the corridor south of Cottage Grove, even a single crash can quickly interrupt travel and delay emergency access along a road that serves as a key rural connection.

Officials identified the case as a single-vehicle rollover and said at least one occupant was ejected. The sheriff’s office had not released a cause for the crash, and investigators had not said whether speed, impairment, road conditions, or another factor played a role. The case number is 26-2212.

The investigation remained active as deputies continued to piece together the sequence of events that led to the rollover. In a county where many roads are narrow, dark before sunrise, and lined by open ditches or limited shoulders, a single mistake can turn a routine commute into a rescue operation in minutes.
