Lane County Search and Rescue is asking the public to help find Tyler Ryan Davis, a 22-year-old Eugene man whose vehicle was found parked near Lookout Reservoir, east of Lowell, after his last known contact with friends and family on April 30. The Lane County Sheriff’s Office said Davis was reported missing to Eugene Police earlier in the week, and anyone with information is asked to call 541-682-4150, option 1.

Davis was described as a white adult male, about 6-foot-2 and 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Officials said they did not know what he was last wearing, a detail search crews often rely on when working rural ground where sightings can be limited by distance, weather and weak cell coverage. Davis was also identified as a University of Oregon student, and he was listed as a junior studying business administration during the 2024-25 academic year.

The search has already become a major countywide operation. Lane County Search and Rescue said crews had logged more than 400 hours in the Lookout Reservoir area, using canines, drones, boats, divers and ground crews to cover the shoreline, nearby roads and rough terrain around the water. The reservoir sits about 22 miles southeast of Eugene on the Middle Fork Willamette River, in a stretch of forested country that can quickly absorb time and personnel once a person is missing and a vehicle has been found.

Lookout Point Reservoir, created in 1953 with construction of Lookout Point Dam, is part of a broader system of reservoirs in the Eugene, Cascades & Coast region. The U.S. Forest Service describes the area around Hampton Boat Launch as wide-open in places, with few trees along the shoreline and access off Oregon State Highway 58, conditions that can help searchers get in and out but also leave large stretches of water and bank exposed. USGS monitoring showed the reservoir’s water surface elevation at 902.68 feet at 4:30 p.m. PDT on April 30, underscoring the real-time attention being paid to conditions on the water as crews continue the search.
