McKenzie Medical Group opened an Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic on the McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center campus at 1460 G Street in Springfield, listing Nov. 1, 2025 as the date appointments could begin and holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 18, 2026. Hospital leaders framed the new practice as a direct response to the departure of outside OB providers and a move to preserve 24/7 labor-and-delivery services for Lane County families.

Doctors Ashley St. Germain and Sara Fassio were photographed cutting the ribbon at the Feb. 18 ceremony; McKenzie-Willamette announced the practice has two permanent staff members and plans to grow. Earlier reporting named Dr. Ashley St. Germain and Dr. Lea Lacar as physicians slated to begin seeing patients the month after publication, a detail that hospital communications indicate evolved as staffing was finalized. Interim hospital president Gregory Brentano said hospital ownership “stepped up” after Oregon Medical Group moved away from providing OB coverage and stressed the need to “make sure that women in Lane County have a choice.”

The McKenzie Medical Group practice website lists a full range of services including prenatal and maternity care, childbirth and postpartum care, family planning, well-woman exams, menopause management, and treatment for pelvic organ prolapse, female incontinence, fibroids and endometriosis. The site gives the practice phone number, 541-988-6380, and notes an online patient portal, privacy and surprise-billing notices, and non-discrimination information available in multiple languages including Español, 繁體中文, Tiếng Việt, 한국어, Tagalog, العربية, Diné Bizaad and Polski.

Hospital officials described a broader staffing expansion for the Women’s Health and Birth Unit as well. Linda Lang, vice president of physician services at McKenzie-Willamette, said the hospital responded to strong community demand to continue labor-and-delivery services and announced that six new OB-GYN providers are joining the unit, with three credentialed in robotic surgery. Lang said “one thing we heard really loud and clear from the community is that they wanted McKenzie-Willamette to continue labor and delivery services,” and she pushed back on rumors of a full closure, saying “that's not the case, we plan to be fully open, providing the full array of women's care.”

The new clinic's launch follows a multi-year contracting relationship in which Oregon Medical Group supplied obstetricians to McKenzie-Willamette since 2015. Lookout coverage and hospital statements said Oregon Medical Group announced in July that it would close its OB-GYN department effective in November, prompting MWMC leadership to organize internal coverage and establish McKenzie Medical Group to maintain continuity of care.

Community leaders and patients underscored the stakes for local families. Brittany Quick-Warner, president and CEO of the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, recalled a personal neonatal emergency and praised hospital caregivers: “It was the scariest thing I am sure I will go through in my life and the caregivers in this hospital saved me and they saved my baby.” Kezi reporting noted the unit's experienced nurses and maternity specialists deliver “hundreds of babies each year,” and hospital officials framed the practice as preserving that local capacity.

For Springfield patients, the clinic sits on the MWMC campus at 1460 G Street, and hospital communications indicate appointments were made available beginning Nov. 1, 2025 with ongoing scheduling via the practice phone at 541-988-6380 and the patient portal. A mural at the clinic entrance welcomed visitors at the Feb. 18 ribbon-cutting as McKenzie Medical Group moves to expand women’s health services in Lane County.
