Oregon and Oregon State renew football rivalry with four-game series

Oregon and Oregon State locked in a four-game football series that will send the rivalry back to Autzen Stadium in Eugene and Reser Stadium in Corvallis through 2032. For Lane County fans, the renewed schedule means two home games at Autzen, on Sept. 15, 2029 and Aug. 30, 2031, with the Beavers coming to Eugene again after a long wait.

The schools announced Tuesday, May 26, 2026, that the agreement begins in 2028. The four scheduled games are Sept. 16, 2028 in Corvallis; Sept. 15, 2029 in Eugene; Aug. 30, 2031 in Eugene; and Sept. 11, 2032 in Corvallis. Oregon also adjusted its 2029 schedule, moving a game against Utah State from Sept. 15, 2029 to Sept. 8, 2029 to make room for Oregon State.

The series will not be played in 2026 or 2027, the first missed season for the rivals since 1944. Oregon State said the last wartime interruption came in 1943 and 1944, a reminder of how rarely this Northwest matchup has gone dark. That gap gives the 2028 return added weight for alumni, season-ticket holders and families who plan fall weekends around the game.

The rivalry dates to 1894, and Oregon State said the teams have played 129 times. That total is tied for the seventh-most meetings all-time and ranks second among Football Bowl Subdivision programs. Only three of those games were played before November, in 1937 in Eugene, 2024 in Corvallis and 2025 in Eugene, which makes the new Aug. 30, 2031 meeting especially unusual for a series so often reserved for the end of the season.

The game’s return also keeps a familiar travel pattern alive for local fans who shuttle between Eugene and Corvallis. A home date at Autzen Stadium is still one of the bigger draws on Oregon’s schedule, and the two Corvallis trips give Lane County fans fixed targets years in advance as conference realignment continues to reshape the rest of the calendar.

Oregon State said the rivalry series is presented by Safeway-Albertsons, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank. For Oregon and Oregon State, the new agreement preserves one of the region’s most recognizable traditions, and it gives Eugene and Lane County another reason to circle the fall dates now rather than later.
