Springfield No Kings March Set for Saturday, City Urges Extra Travel Time
A No Kings march kicks off at Springfield City Hall Saturday at 11 a.m., part of more than 3,000 events nationally; the city has issued a travel advisory.
The No Kings 3 march is set for Saturday at Springfield City Hall, 225 Fifth St., with music beginning at 10:30 a.m. and a rally and march to follow, with sign-waving along Main Street. The City of Springfield has issued a public advisory urging anyone traveling through the area to plan ahead.
The City of Springfield says this event is not organized or sponsored by the City. "To support public safety and help the community plan ahead, the City has prepared a traffic and safety route map outlining the anticipated march path," the City stated. That map is available as a PDF through the City's advisory page. More than 100 No Kings protests are set to take place in Oregon on March 28, with communities scheduled to gather in multiple cities across the state to protest against what organizers describe as authoritarian policies pushed by President Donald Trump.
Saturday's Springfield event is the third major national mobilization under the No Kings banner. The March 28 protests were preceded by No Kings protests in June and October, a general strike in Minnesota on January 23, and a larger strike across the U.S. on January 30, organized by various groups including Indivisible, 50501, and the AFL-CIO. The movement reported more than seven million Americans joining over 2,700 events across 50 states in October.

The City was direct about the boundaries of its role. "The City's role is focused on maintaining safety, including traffic coordination and ensuring emergency access," the City said. "These measures are standard for large gatherings in public spaces."
The Eugene/Springfield event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Springfield City Hall, 225 5th Street. Drivers with business near downtown Springfield on Saturday morning should consult the City's traffic and safety route map before heading out. Anyone with questions about the march itself is asked to contact the event organizers directly, not City Hall.
