Woman cited after west Eugene crash into gas line, hospitalised with injuries
A west Eugene crash into a gas line sent a 37-year-old driver to the hospital and left police citing her for DUII and reckless driving.

A Sunday early-morning crash at Green Hill Road and Barger Drive turned a west Eugene roundabout into a utility hazard after a Nissan Murano slammed into a gas line, sending the driver to the hospital and triggering a police DUII investigation.
Eugene police said officers were called at 4:04 a.m. on April 26 to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection in west Eugene. City fire and EMS dispatch records logged the incident at 4:03:34 a.m. as an outside gas leak at Green Hill Road and Barger Drive, underscoring the danger beyond the traffic collision itself.
Police identified the driver as 37-year-old Ashley Marine Cannaday. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, and police said she was later cited in lieu of custody for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. The crash was logged by Eugene police as case 26-06208.

No other injuries were reported. The single-vehicle wreck also did not involve a second car, but it put a gas line at risk in a busy west Eugene corridor where even a late-night crash can quickly affect nearby property, utility crews and anyone passing through the area.
The incident comes amid continued DUII enforcement attention in Eugene and Lane County, where police have reported multiple impaired-driving arrests in recent weekends. In one recent stretch, officers made eight DUII arrests from Saturday to Sunday, a pace officials have used to warn drivers to plan ahead and avoid getting behind the wheel after drinking or using drugs.
