Lewis and Clark County Seeks Bids for 2026 Road Crack Sealing Project
Lewis and Clark County is accepting bids until April 13 for crack sealing work on county roads, part of an annual pavement maintenance program that drew five competitors last year.

Lewis and Clark County is soliciting competitive bids for its 2026 Crack Sealing Project, with the submission deadline set for April 13, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
The Board of County Commissioners is the contracting authority on the project, with county staff in the Public Works Department and the Noxious Weed District serving as points of contact for prospective bidders. The scope, as described in the county's official solicitation, covers routing cracks that are one-quarter inch wide or wider, cleaning all routable and non-routable cracks, including vegetation sterilization where present, and sealing all cracks in asphalt pavement across various county roads.
The county posted its Invitation for Bids alongside a companion solicitation, an Invitation for Bids for the 2026 Asphalt Project, which carries the same April 13 deadline. Whether the two contracts are related or entirely separate procurements has not been specified in the county's public posting.
The crack sealing program runs annually. When the county opened bids for its 2025 Crack Seal last March, five contractors submitted proposals: Cap Paving, Inc. of East Helena came in lowest at $68,563.20, followed by Z and Z Asphalt of Billings at $79,559.76, Hardrives Construction Inc. of Billings at $85,156.80, Yellowstone Pavement Solutions of Belgrade at $94,192.29, and CR Contracting LLC of Bend, Oregon at $195,449.85. County staff took the 2025 bids under advisement before returning with a recommendation.
No budget estimate for the 2026 project has been published as part of the solicitation. Interested contractors can find the full bid documents on the Lewis and Clark County bids and proposals page at lccountymt.gov, where the project's status is listed as open. The county's Public Works Department can be reached at (406) 447-1631 for road-related questions.
The county's procurement page currently lists several other active and recently closed solicitations, including requests for proposals on law enforcement mental health services and a camp program for children of incarcerated parents, reflecting a busy spring contracting season for the commissioners.
