Constitutional law scholar Rob Natelson took the podium Sunday evening at the Helena Civic Center as the Lewis & Clark County Republican Central Committee held its annual Lincoln Reagan Trump Dinner, themed this year around "America's 250th Turning Point."

Doors opened at 4:30 p.m. for cocktails at the Civic Center, located at 340 Neill Ave, with dinner served at 6 p.m. The event ran through 10:30 p.m., filling the evening with live, silent and dessert auctions alongside the keynote address, all aimed at generating funds for what organizers described as "the next generation of L&C candidates."

Natelson brought substantial credentials to the podium. Widely known for his pioneering work on the original meaning of the U.S. Constitution, he served for 23 years as Professor of Law at the University of Montana, where he taught Constitutional Law and became a national authority on the subject. Supreme Court justices have relied on his research 41 times since 2013, one of the highest numbers of any legal scholar. Organizers described him in event materials as "a nationally respected authority on constitutional law" who spent more than two decades at the University of Montana "earning recognition across the country for his expertise on the origins and development of the U.S. Constitution." Additional guest speakers were also listed on the program, though their names were not disclosed in advance.

Tickets were priced at $75 per person, with a $6.49 processing fee bringing the advertised total to $81.49, according to the event's ticketing page. A separate discount was available through the Cindy Forbes Memorial Scholarship: guests between ages 16 and 40 could use the promo code "under40" to receive a 50% reduction on the ticket price.

The Lewis & Clark County Republican Central Committee's overall purpose is to help conservative Republicans win elections, accomplished through volunteering, networking, and focusing on key areas. The dinner serves as one of the committee's primary annual fundraising vehicles, with auction proceeds directed toward local Republican candidates. Zack Wirth, listed as treasurer of the committee, handled ticketing logistics for the event.

The "250th Turning Point" theme tied the dinner to the United States' 250th anniversary year, framing the fundraising push in explicitly patriotic terms as the county party positions itself to support candidates in upcoming Lewis and Clark County races.
