100 Men Who Care Los Alamos Hosts Quarterly Nonprofit Fundraiser at SALA
A $100-per-member giving circle brought its "Shark Tank"-style nonprofit competition to SALA, with the League of Women Voters appearing on both reported nominee slates.

Three local nonprofits competed Thursday evening for a collective payout from 100 Men Who Care – Los Alamos, a giving circle that gathers quarterly at the SALA Event Center and channels every dollar of its members' contributions directly to the winning organization.
The event ran from 5:30 to 7 p.m. March 12, with the evening opening over food and drinks before moving into the group's signature format: short presentations from each of three randomly selected nonprofit nominees, followed by a member vote. Whichever organization wins receives a $100 check written on the spot by every person in the room.
Two local news outlets reported different slates of nominees ahead of the event. The Los Alamos Daily Post listed the Los Alamos Historical Society, Self Help, and the League of Women Voters. The Los Alamos Reporter listed Del Norte LOV Foundation, Dance Arts Los Alamos, and the League of Women Voters. The League of Women Voters appeared on both lists; organizers had not publicly reconciled the discrepancy before the event.
The model is deliberately simple. Membership is open to anyone willing to commit $100 per quarter, and members may nominate their favorite local charity for consideration. The group describes the selection process as "organized like a 'Shark Tank' for nonprofits," with the vote determining which organization walks away with the evening's pooled contributions. Because Los Alamos Children's Dentistry covered all venue and food costs as the event sponsor, organizers say 100 percent of member contributions flowed to the winning nonprofit. The Los Alamos Community Foundation, which helped the group restart after the COVID-19 pandemic, is credited as a continuing partner.
The group also coordinates with its counterpart organization for women to stagger event dates and avoid sending competing applications to the same nonprofits, a practice organizers describe as an effort to "spread the wealth" across the county's charitable sector.

Cumulative fundraising totals reported by the two outlets diverged significantly: the Los Alamos Reporter cited "over $20,000 for local nonprofits" raised through prior events, while the Los Alamos Daily Post put the figure at $37,000. Organizers have not publicly clarified which total reflects current accounting.
The March gathering also included a follow-up presentation from a recent grant recipient. The Los Alamos Reporter identified the presenter as Champions of Youth Ambitions, the December 2024 winner, while the Daily Post named the First Born Program of Los Alamos, identified as the December 2025 winner. The Daily Post also reported that three mystery door prizes were to be awarded during the evening.
