Bradbury Ambassador Teens Host Free Strawberry DNA Event for Local Youth
Teens at the Bradbury Science Museum are extracting strawberry DNA tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. in a free, teens-only event hosted by the Bradbury Ambassador Teens.

A group of teen volunteers at the Bradbury Science Museum is turning a berry into a biology lesson tonight, hosting a free "Strawberry Extravaganza" from 5 to 7 p.m. that pairs a hands-on DNA extraction lab with a short biology presentation and strawberry snacks, all at no cost to attendees.
The Bradbury Ambassador Teens, a youth group connected to the Central Avenue museum, organized the two-hour event specifically for teens. The hands-on strawberry DNA lab sits at the center of the program, giving participants a rare chance to physically isolate genetic material from fruit using a process that requires no specialized background in science.
This is not the group's first foray into public programming. Back in October 2024, the Bradbury Ambassador Teens launched with a Kickoff to World Space Week event that included activities on gravity and telescopes, solar oven s'mores, and solar viewing. Tonight's Strawberry Extravaganza represents a turn toward molecular biology, building on the group's pattern of pairing accessible science with tangible, edible experiences.

The event is free and limited to teens. Parents and guardians seeking more information before the 5 p.m. start can reach the group at bradburyteenambassadors@gmail.com, the contact address the Bradbury Ambassador Teens have used for prior events. The Bradbury Science Museum is located on Central Avenue in Los Alamos.
