Early Registration Opens for 29th Annual Los Alamos Dog Jog in April

Early bird registration is open for the 29th Annual Los Alamos Dog Jog, with participants who sign up by Sunday, April 5 saving $5 on their entry fee. The event, organized by Los Alamos Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals (LAFOSCA), takes place Saturday, April 25 at Rover Park in White Rock and features a sanctioned 5K run and a 2-mile walk.

Registration opened March 13 and runs through multiple channels. Online sign-ups are available through Givebutter, while paper forms can be picked up in person at Pet Pangaea or Ridgeview Veterinary Hospital. Those who prefer to register by mail can send completed forms and payment to Dog Jog Registrar, 155 Monte Rey S., White Rock, NM 87547.

Every registered participant receives a commemorative T-shirt featuring a logo designed by a local student, along with a packet of local advertising and educational materials on dog health and safety. On race day, prizes and awards go to the fastest 5K runners, with additional recognition for walkers and dogs competing in various "fun" categories. Dog treats will be waiting at the finish line for all canine participants.

The Dog Jog serves as the primary fundraiser for LAFOSCA, an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides financial assistance for catastrophic veterinary care and spay/neuter vouchers for animals across north-central New Mexico. Now in its 29th year, the event has become a fixture of the White Rock community and a key source of support for pet owners facing unexpected medical costs.
