Hilltoppers Complete Midweek Games, Prepare for Weekend Invites
Los Alamos High School's Hilltoppers wrapped a busy midweek slate of basketball games Jan. 5-8 and will send swimmers and wrestlers to two regional invites Saturday, Jan. 10. The schedule means more travel for student-athletes and coaches and continued local coverage from the Los Alamos Daily Post sports team, making support and logistics a focus for families and the school community.

Los Alamos High School’s athletic teams were active across the week of Jan. 5-10, finishing several midweek basketball matchups and turning attention to two regional invites scheduled for Saturday. The girls and boys basketball teams played local and regional opponents Jan. 5 through Jan. 8, while swimming/diving and wrestling teams are set to compete at invite events on Jan. 10.
On Monday, Jan. 5 the Hilltopper girls traveled to Belen for a 5 p.m. game, while the boys hosted Belen at home with a 5 p.m. start. The boys traveled to face Capital on Tuesday, Jan. 6 with a 7 p.m. tipoff, and the girls hosted Capital on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 8 the girls hosted Valencia at 7 p.m. Those midweek contests gave both programs multiple competitive opportunities against regional opponents in the opening weeks of the season.

Looking ahead, Los Alamos swimmers and divers are entered in the Academy Invite on Saturday, Jan. 10, with start times to be announced. The Hilltopper wrestling squad will compete at the Sammy Vivian Invite in Socorro on Jan. 10, also with times yet to be posted. Both invite events will require travel for teams and families, with the wrestling trip to Socorro carrying the longest distance from Los Alamos.
Local coverage of Topper games continues through the Los Alamos Daily Post sports team, providing results and game reports for residents who cannot attend. With several home nights during the week and multiple away contests, the schedule underscores the logistical effort behind high school athletics this season, from school transportation and supervision to family travel and weekend scheduling.
For the Los Alamos community, the slate highlights how local high school sports remain a focal point for civic pride and youth development. Parents and supporters should expect adjustments as schools and regional hosts finalize start times; programing and schedules are subject to change. Fans and families are advised to check official Los Alamos High School athletics pages for the latest updates on times, locations, and any modifications to the Jan. 10 invite schedules.
