IUPA Features Los Alamos Middle School Officer James Keane After Goat Kiss
Cpl. James Keane kissed a goat at Los Alamos Middle School to help raise $788 for St. Jude, and the International Union of Police Associations featured him in its newsletter.

Cpl. James Keane, the Los Alamos Middle School resource officer, kissed a small goat as one of three people selected during a school fundraiser that accumulated $788 and was later featured in the International Union of Police Associations newsletter. The Los Alamos Reporter published a Los Alamos Police Department news release about the event on Feb. 15, 2026.
The goat-kiss took place at Los Alamos Middle School; Los Alamos Reporter reproduced a LAPD photo caption that reads, “LAPD Cpl. James Keane carefully kisses a goat at Los Alamos Middle School during a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Photo Courtesy LAPD.” The same item described Keane as a “longtime Los Alamos Middle School resource officer,” and said students were delighted when Keane agreed to kiss the goat as part of the St. Jude fundraiser.
The LAPD social-media post, quoted in the Los Alamos Reporter reprint, played on the stunt with a pun: “Corporal Keane is the G.O.A.T.! Doing his part with Los Alamos Middle School to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. They raised around $800!!!” The news release text also carried the line, “Local Los Alamos Police Association, #14 Member SRO Corporal Keane along with kids from a local school and the help of a little goat raised money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital!”
The fundraiser’s donated total is reported specifically as $788, with LAPD social media rounding that to “around $800.” The Los Alamos Reporter copy states, “The fundraiser accumulated $788 which was donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital,” and the department’s social post is cited for the looser approximation and promotional tone.

Cpl. James Keane addressed the event’s community aim in the LAPD release as reprinted by Los Alamos Reporter, saying, “Being able to engage with students, staff, and the community for such a good cause helps strengthen the relationship between our department, the school district, and the entire community we serve. I was grateful for the opportunity.” The release also identified Keane as a member of Local Los Alamos Police Association, #14.
Los Alamos Reporter’s publication of the LAPD news release on Feb. 15, 2026 included the IUPA note that the International Union of Police Associations had featured Keane in its newsletter for his role in the St. Jude fundraiser. The LAPD photo credit cited in the article reads “Photo Courtesy LAPD.” The LAPD release and social posts do not specify the exact date the fundraiser took place; the news item and IUPA feature appeared in the February 15, 2026 coverage.
The stunt and the IUPA spotlight highlight a local-school partnership that converted a lighthearted moment into a concrete charitable donation: $788 delivered to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and national attention through the IUPA newsletter.
