LA Tech LLC opens downtown, offers local one-call IT support
Stephen Kollman opened LA Tech downtown to give Los Alamos one local call for IT fixes, network work and security instead of waiting on outside help.

Stephen Kollman opened LA Tech LLC in downtown Los Alamos in February with a simple pitch: one local call should cover the IT problems that can stop a home office, small shop or contractor job cold. The new company is at 1247 Central Ave., Suite F #226, and aims to give residents and businesses a nearby option for troubleshooting, repairs, network management, security and broader technology support.
That matters in a town where computers, cloud tools and connected devices are part of daily work life. LA Tech’s website describes the business as providing IT support, troubleshooting and technology services for homes and small businesses in Los Alamos and surrounding areas. Kollman has said he started the company because he enjoys helping people and saw a need for dependable, trustworthy tech support that could be handled locally rather than routed to Albuquerque or a remote help line.
Kollman’s background is also part of the story. He was born in Palm Springs, spent much of his early life traveling and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in project management at Southern New Hampshire University. He says he has maintained a 4.0 GPA, ranks among the top 1 percent of IT students at the university and has earned national academic recognition.
The launch comes as Los Alamos County continues building out its own broadband future. The county says its Community Broadband Network is intended to improve internet access, reliability and affordability across Los Alamos and White Rock. County materials say the project is designed to serve more than 10,000 homes and businesses and will be publicly owned infrastructure, with utility field work underway in 2025 and construction tentatively expected to begin in June 2026.

The local market is small, but unusually connected. U.S. Census Bureau QuickFacts puts Los Alamos County’s estimated population at 19,675 in July 2024 and 19,407 in July 2025. The same data show 93.4 percent of households had a broadband subscription from 2020 through 2024, and 69.7 percent of adults age 25 and older held a bachelor’s degree or higher. That mix points to a community with heavy technology use and a likely appetite for fast, competent support when systems fail.
Downtown Los Alamos has its own economic identity as well. Los Alamos MainStreet says the district is tied to the community’s World War II history as a secret city, and it works with the Los Alamos Commerce & Development Corporation to support local businesses and increase downtown activity. Business records show LA Tech LLC was filed with the New Mexico Corporations Division on February 9, 2026, with Kollman listed as the registered agent and sole principal on record, adding a new service storefront to the downtown core.
