Los Alamos County Invites Residents to Take Tourism Survey to Guide Planning
Los Alamos County issued a Feb. 19 news release asking residents to complete an online tourism survey open through Feb. 28, 2026 to shape future tourism planning.

Los Alamos County published a news release on Feb. 19, 2026 inviting community members to complete an online tourism survey open through Feb. 28, 2026. "Los Alamos County is inviting community members to participate in an online tourism survey open through February 28, 2026," the county release said, adding the effort aims to gather local input to help guide planning, marketing, and management across the county.
The county release states the survey is intended "to gather community feedback to help inform future tourism planning, marketing, and management efforts across the county." The release also emphasizes public input as part of a broader economic framing: "Los Alamos County values community input and encourages broad participation to ensure tourism efforts reflect local priorities while supporting economic vitality and quality of life."
The outreach arrives against the backdrop of county-commissioned National Community Survey results from 2022, in which 73 percent of respondents selected "enhancing support and opportunities for the local business environment" as the single highest priority for county government in the next five years. That 73 percent figure was highlighted in SALA Los Alamos material that links council strategy on Economic Vitality and the sub-goal Local Business to tourism as an economic development tool.
Residents and business owners can complete the county’s tourism survey through the tourism section of the Los Alamos County website; the county’s tourism page also lists current initiatives. Local media restatements of the county release encourage broad participation and note the survey window closes Feb. 28, 2026.

The county has paired the online survey with in-person outreach. LaDailyPost reports a Tourism Town Hall, co-hosted by Los Alamos County and DestinationiQ, scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at the SALA Event Center, 2551 Central Ave. The LaDailyPost item did not list a year for Dec. 10; it says the town hall will give attendees and business owners a chance to connect with DestinationiQ and "share their own insights and help shape a sustainable tourism vision that protects Los Alamos’ unique character and quality of life." For more information about the town hall, LaDailyPost lists ellyn.felton@losalamosnm.gov as the contact.
SALA Los Alamos has proposed tactical elements that align with the county Tourism Strategic Plan, urging a focus on marketing "outdoor recreation, history and science," production of a promotional video, collaboration with Pajarito Environmental Education Center to develop films for the Planetarium, and exploration of immersive experiences tied to SALA and Planetarium programming. SALA noted those initiatives could be developed using existing facilities without additional county capital investment or upkeep.
The county release frames the survey responses as inputs that will inform next steps in tourism planning and management. The survey remains open through Feb. 28, 2026; residents seeking town hall or event details may contact ellyn.felton@losalamosnm.gov or consult the Los Alamos County tourism page for updates.
