Los Alamos County Seeks Qualified Residents to Fill Personnel Board Vacancies
Los Alamos County is looking for residents to fill two seats on its Personnel Board, with applications accepted until the vacancies are filled.

Two seats on the Los Alamos County Personnel Board are open, and the county has been actively recruiting qualified applicants since a March 10 announcement confirmed it was continuing to accept applications. The open positions are full three-year terms set to expire on March 31, 2029.
To be eligible, Los Alamos residents must not hold public office and must not be employed by the county government. Applications are submitted online through the county's Boards and Commissions webpage by selecting "apply," and the county will keep accepting them until both seats are filled.
The five-member Personnel Board carries a defined legal mandate: it serves in an appellate and advisory capacity in the administration of the county's personnel program under Section 306.2, Article III of the Charter for the Incorporated County of Los Alamos. In practice, that means the board functions as an oversight body for how the county manages its workforce, hearing appeals and advising on personnel policy. Members appointed by council serve staggered three-year terms and may be eligible for up to three terms total.
Board member Bernadine Goldman described the work as directly connected to the quality of services residents rely on. "Los Alamos County employees contribute greatly to the fine quality of life the community enjoys," Goldman said. "It is very rewarding to ensure through my service on the County Personnel Board that these County employees will continue to benefit from a supportive and professional work environment."
The board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos.
