Los Alamos High School sets Class of 2026 graduation for May 23

Families will gather at Sullivan Field at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, when Los Alamos High School holds the Class of 2026 graduation ceremony. Los Alamos Public Schools has already placed the ceremony on its 2025-2026 calendar, giving seniors, parents and staff a clear marker as the school year heads into its final stretch.

That timing puts graduation just ahead of Memorial Day on May 25 and the last day of school on May 29. In a county where school events draw broad attention, the ceremony will stand out as one of the spring’s central community milestones.

Los Alamos High School sits at 1300 Diamond Drive in Los Alamos, on the Pajarito Plateau in the Jemez Mountains of Northern New Mexico, about 35 miles from Santa Fe. The school profile identifies Los Alamos National Laboratory as the major employer in Los Alamos County, a reminder of how closely education and civic life are tied together in the town.

The school’s 2025-2026 profile says Los Alamos High School has 140 staff members, offers 22 Advanced Placement courses and provides more than 50 dual-enrollment courses through the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico College. More than 80 students are enrolled in those dual-enrollment classes this year, underscoring the range of academic options available to students before they reach graduation.

NCES data show Los Alamos High School enrolled 1,181 students in the 2024-2025 school year, including 292 seniors. The school reported a student-teacher ratio of 14.50, and 135 students were eligible for free or reduced-price lunch, indicating that the senior class represents families from a range of household circumstances across Los Alamos County.

Los Alamos County had a population of 19,419 in the 2020 census, one reason a high school graduation can feel like a town-wide event rather than a routine school function. The district’s board of education has five members representing five county districts, and Superintendent Jennifer Guy leads Los Alamos Public Schools. At the high school, Stan Maschal is listed as principal, with Ryan Finn, Stan Maschal and Suzanne Montoya identified as assistant principals, as the Class of 2026 prepares to cross the stage at Sullivan Field.
