Los Alamos Teen Center, JJAB Host Free Movie Night April 4
Free food, games, and MegaMind are on tap Saturday as the Teen Center and JJAB host a free movie night starting at 5:30 p.m.

The Teen Center and the Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board are teaming up Saturday to offer local teenagers a free evening built around food, games, and a group screening of MegaMind at SALA Los Alamos Event Center.
The night begins with a pre-party at the Teen Center at 5:30 p.m., where free food and games will be available. At approximately 7:45 p.m., participants will walk together from the Teen Center to SALA for the film. Organizers built the group walk into the schedule as a supervised procession, giving the transition between venues a community-bonding purpose that extends the event beyond a simple movie outing.
The collaboration brings together three Los Alamos institutions: the JJAB, which advises the county on juvenile prevention programming; the Teen Center, which provides the indoor pre-event gathering space; and SALA Los Alamos Event Center, which hosts the screening. By using existing community assets rather than renting outside facilities, organizers kept the entire evening free for attendees.

Structured programming on weekend evenings is a core part of the JJAB's prevention strategy. The board focuses on creating positive social alternatives for teenagers and connecting youth to civic institutions, and an event that moves from the Teen Center to SALA puts teens in recognized community spaces in a low-stakes, social context supervised by adults.
Parents planning drop-off and pickup should contact the Teen Center in advance for logistics. Capacity limits or permission requirements for minors may apply. Those interested in volunteering can reach out to the Teen Center or JJAB directly.
