Main Hill Road Reopened After Two Vehicle Crash, One Injured

Los Alamos police confirmed that Main Hill Road reopened on November 19 after a two vehicle collision that shut the route for several hours that morning. “The Main Hill is now open, and all the involved vehicles have been removed,” Cmdr. Daniel Robert said. “We thank the community for their patience.”

Cmdr. Roberts said that one of the individuals involved in the accident did sustain injuries and was transported to Los Alamos Medical Center for treatment. Authorities did not release further details about the condition of the injured person or the identities of those involved.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department took over the scene after initial response by the Los Alamos Police Department and will determine whether either driver involved in the crash will be cited. That transfer places responsibility for the investigative and enforcement decisions with the county agency rather than the municipal department that first responded.

The closure of Main Hill Road interrupted morning travel patterns through the town and required removal of the damaged vehicles before normal traffic flow could resume. Main Hill Road is a central corridor for commuters, school traffic, and local businesses, so any closure can create delays and stress local services. Residents who regularly use the route experienced detours and slower commutes while crews worked at the scene.
