New Mexico to mail 1099-G tax forms to 2025 unemployment recipients
NMDWS announced it will mail 1099-G forms by Jan. 31 to those who received unemployment in 2025. Los Alamos residents should verify addresses and check their online claimant folder.

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions announced Jan. 14 that it will mail all IRS 1099-G forms by Jan. 31 to individuals who received unemployment insurance benefits in 2025. The 1099-G reports the total amount of benefits paid during the year; unemployment insurance benefits are taxable and must be included in 2025 tax filings.
For Los Alamos County residents who collected unemployment benefits last year, the timing and accuracy of these mailings matter for tax preparation. A missing or incorrect 1099-G can delay filing or create confusion about taxable income reported to the IRS. The department is urging claimants to review and confirm their mailing address now to avoid delivery problems.

Claimants can verify and update address information by logging into the Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims System at jobs.state.nm.us. From the claimant homepage, users may select "View and Maintain Account Information" and then "Contact Information" to confirm mailing details. The statement from NMDWS also says 1099-G forms will be posted in each claimant’s online correspondent folder on their unemployment insurance claimant homepage; access requires Adobe Acrobat or another PDF reader.
If a recipient finds a discrepancy, needs a reprint, or has questions, requests may be submitted online at dws.state.nm.us/1099. Claimants can also call the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center at 877-664-6984, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for assistance.
Local tax preparers and individuals who file their own returns should plan accordingly. Those who prefer to wait for the mailed form can check the online correspondence folder to download and print the 1099-G for tax software or paper filing. Filing without the form is possible if taxpayers have accurate records of benefits received, but matching the department’s reported amounts to IRS records will help prevent later notices or tax adjustments.
This announcement underscores the routine but important role state agencies play in the tax reporting cycle and the value of keeping contact information current with government systems. For Los Alamos County residents affected by unemployment benefits in 2025, verify your contact information in the claimant portal and check the correspondence folder after Jan. 31; if issues persist, use the online request portal or the operations center phone line to obtain a reprint or correction.
