Pajarito Pickleball Club offers intermediate skills clinic in White Rock

Pajarito Pickleball Club will host an intermediate skills clinic from 8 to 10 a.m. Aug. 15 at Piñon Courts in White Rock. Certified instructor Brian Clayman will lead the session, with Jodi Smith assisting.

The clinic is aimed at players who already know the basics and want more structure than a casual open game can provide. That puts the focus on improving technique, court positioning and game strategy, a useful step in a sport that has moved quickly from novelty to regular recreation across Los Alamos County.

White Rock is a logical setting for the clinic. Piñon Courts is one of two pickleball court locations in White Rock, and an earlier local open house described the venue as having a beginner court, two intermediate courts and one advanced court. That mix of courts shows the site was built for organized play across multiple skill levels, not just informal pickup.

The Pajarito Pickleball Club has been building that kind of structure for some time. In an Aug. 6, 2024 item, the club announced two upcoming skills clinics for players of all levels, pointing to a broader instructional effort rather than a single one-off class. By Oct. 14, 2025, the club said it was celebrating two years of promoting the sport and welcoming players of all ages and abilities in Los Alamos.

The White Rock clinic is likely to draw players from across the county, but it has particular appeal for residents on the east side who want organized recreation close to home. For many county players, pickleball has become as much a social routine as an athletic one, and a supervised clinic gives that growing community a place to sharpen skills together.

With a certified instructor, an assistant and a set time clearly aimed at intermediate players, the Aug. 15 clinic offers a simple path for anyone ready to move beyond casual rallies and into more deliberate play.
