Piñon Park Pool opens May 23 for Memorial Day weekend in White Rock
Piñon Park Pool reopens May 23 under county operation, with weekday lap swim, Saturday hours and Memorial Day access in White Rock.

Piñon Park Pool will reopen in White Rock on Saturday, May 23, and Los Alamos County says the facility will be open to the public and available to Aquatic Center pass holders. The opening lands just before Memorial Day weekend, giving White Rock families a local swim option as the county moves into summer recreation season.
The reopening also reflects a major shift in how the pool is being run. The Piñon Pool Association previously operated the facility, but closed it in 2025 because of a lack of memberships. Los Alamos County then secured a lease in February 2026 from Attack Research to operate Piñon Pool from May through October 2026, while the Olympic and Therapy Pools remain closed for a re-plaster project scheduled from February 22 through October 2026.

For the 2026 season, Piñon Park Pool is scheduled to be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with lap swim from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on six lanes. Saturdays will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no lap swimming, and the pool will be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The county said Leisure Lagoon will be closed on Saturdays and federally observed holidays so staff can fully cover Piñon Park Pool.
The county’s Aquatic Center fee schedule lists annual passes at $200 for youth ages 0 to 17, $250 for seniors 50 and older, $300 for adults and $800 for families. Three-month passes are priced at $63, $79, $94.50 and $250, and 10-, 20- and 30-visit swim passes remain available, along with a 10-visit fitness pass. County job listings also show lifeguard trainee, lifeguard and senior lifeguard openings posted through May 15, with pay ranging from $18.69 to $35.23 an hour, underscoring the staffing effort behind the opening.
Piñon Park is already one of White Rock’s main warm-weather gathering spots. The county says the splash pad at 30 Sherwood Dr. runs Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, adding another recreation option beside the pool and skate park as summer crowds return to the neighborhood.
