Rocky Horror shadow cast brings immersive shows to Los Alamos Elks Lodge

The Los Alamos Elks Lodge will turn 1601 Trinity Drive into a late-night Rocky Horror destination on Friday, June 5, and again on Saturday, June 6, June 19 and June 20. Director Alexandra DiBranco’s production will start at 8:30 p.m., doors will open at 8 p.m., and the film itself will begin at 8:55 p.m., with tickets sold online and at the door for $20 to $50.

This is not a standard movie screening. A shadow cast means live performers act out the film in real time, moving with the scenes, cueing the jokes and pulling the audience into the ritual that has made The Rocky Horror Picture Show a cult staple for generations. At the Los Alamos Elks Lodge, the setup will be deliberately immersive: seating will be arranged around tables, cast members will move through the audience, and the atmosphere is meant to echo the annual Transylvanian-convention style nights that Rocky Horror fans expect.

First-timers will also need to know the house rules. The event is limited to adults 21 and older, alcohol will be available at the bar, and $10 prop bags will be sold so the crowd can take part in the show’s familiar calls and responses. Those prop-bag sales will go to the Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico, adding a fundraising piece to a night that is designed as both performance and participation.

The choice of venue gives the show a distinctly local feel. Los Alamos Elks Lodge No. 2083 sits in the New Mexico Elks Association’s Northeast District, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks describes itself as a charitable fraternal organization centered on community service and fellowship. That makes the lodge a natural fit for a production that is trying to be more than a theater outing: it is being presented as a community night, a Pride Month celebration and a social event all at once.

DiBranco has tied the Rocky Horror run to a broader stretch of Pride programming in Los Alamos. The shadow cast will also perform June 9 at Tuesday in the Square and June 12 at Pride After Dark at the VFW. MainStreet Los Alamos says Tuesdays @ the Square runs from 6 to 8 p.m. in June and July 2026 at Central Park Square, with live music, a beer garden and picnic space. Los Alamos Pride materials also list a County Council Pride proclamation for June 9 and tunnel painting on June 10, underscoring how the show fits into a busier civic calendar.
