SALA Launches Community Film Weekend with New Lobby Reveal
The SALA Los Alamos Event Center opens a three-day film series today, January 9, featuring a mix of New Reels premieres, classics, a special screening with discussion, and teen programming. The series spotlights SALA’s newly redesigned lobby and increased concessions while inviting local businesses to sponsor community-focused film programming.

SALA Los Alamos begins a packed weekend of screenings and community programming today, January 9, running through Sunday, January 11. The lineup pairs new independent work with familiar titles and targeted events for teens and discussion groups, bringing expanded offerings to residents and visitors.
New Reels programming, sponsored by Casa Los Alamos, includes Eternity, which remains in the run, and the premiere of I Was A Stranger. Both films are scheduled Friday and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., and on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Classic cinema returns Saturday evening with The First Wives Club at 6:30 p.m., providing a lighter option amid the new-release slate.
A special screening of The Chosen, Season 5, Episode 5, takes place Saturday at 4:00 p.m. and will be followed by an after-film discussion, giving attendees an opportunity for local conversation and analysis of the episode. Teen Movie Night, sponsored by Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, runs Saturday from 7:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., aiming to provide dedicated programming for younger audiences.
Attendees will experience SALA’s newly redesigned lobby, which includes a larger concessions area intended to improve patron comfort and circulation. The redesign also creates new opportunities for community engagement and fundraising through concessions and event sponsorships.

SALA is actively seeking sponsors for its programs and is encouraging partnerships with local businesses interested in supporting community-focused film programming. Businesses and organizations that want to explore sponsorship opportunities can contact the venue directly at sala@losalamos.com.
For Los Alamos residents, the weekend reflects a local cultural institution expanding its scope and amenities while attempting to strengthen ties with community organizations and youth-serving groups. The mix of premieres, classics, discussion programming, and teen events offers multiple entry points for different age groups and interests, and provides local businesses a visible avenue for community investment.
As SALA advances its programming and facility upgrades, participation and sponsorship will shape how the center balances cultural offerings with fiscal sustainability. Residents interested in attending or partnering can email sala@losalamos.com for more information.
