Terry Jansen to play Co-Op Summer Showcase in Los Alamos

Terry Jansen is set to bring an acoustic, roots-heavy set to Co-op Park in Los Alamos, giving the town another free, low-pressure chance to hear a hometown musician in a familiar downtown space. The singer and guitarist will play Friday at 5:45 p.m. at 1010 Central Ave, next to the Los Alamos Schools Credit Union, as the Co-Op Summer Showcase continues its weekly run.

Jansen’s profile fits the stage well. She has played guitar since she was 13 and has spent years performing in breweries, bars, open mics, parties and campfires, a mix that points to the kind of informal music-making that often anchors small-town scenes. Her influences include Emmylou Harris, Bonnie Raitt, Neil Young and the Grateful Dead, suggesting a set rooted in acoustic, folk and classic roots-rock traditions.

The Co-Op series itself has quickly become part of Los Alamos’ summer rhythm. It began with an inaugural concert on Friday, May 15, when Baggage Claim opened the run at 6 p.m. The concerts are outdoors, free to the public and built around local musicians serving as opening acts for the main Friday concert series. Earlier dates in the lineup included the General Grooves Project and KISS MY CHAOS, both scheduled for 5:45 p.m., reinforcing a steady weekly cadence rather than a one-off booking.

That consistency matters in a place where live music can be spread across multiple venues and family schedules. The Co-Op stage gives local artists another reliable place to perform without the cost and production demands of a larger concert, while also drawing people into the Central Avenue corridor around the credit union. Baggage Claim, which opened the inaugural show, was in its third year as a band and had already played summer sets at SALA and the Los Alamos Winter Rock Festival, a reminder that the same musicians often move between the town’s different small-scale stages.

Jansen’s appearance also lands within a broader Friday-night music pattern in town. The county-sponsored Los Alamos Summer Concert Series runs every Friday from May 22 through Aug. 28, 2026, as a non-ticketed, family-friendly, free community concert series with a food court, games and beer garden. Together, the county series and the Co-Op showcases give Los Alamos a downtown summer calendar built for easy attendance and steady support of local performers.
