UNITE’s Arrive Alive Tour Comes to Central Park Square Feb. 26
UNITE’s Arrive Alive Tour, billed as the nation’s number-one ranked drunk-and-distracted driving event and the country’s first portable marijuana-impaired driving simulator, will be at Central Park Square Feb. 26.

UNITE’s Arrive Alive Tour will be at Central Park Square in Los Alamos on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, Los Alamos County announced. MoDOT's Newsroom described the program as "UNITE’s Arrive Alive Tour® is the nation’s number-one ranked drunk and distracted driving awareness event, as well as the first-and-only marijuana driving simulator in the country."
Organizers say the Arrive Alive Tour gives participants a hands-on simulation inside an immobilized vehicle. MoDOT’s description notes "The Arrive Alive Tour uses a high-tech, state-of-the-art simulator that allows participants to drive while distracted, drunk, or drugged in a fully functioning vehicle without moving or being intoxicated." The tour’s promotional materials add that "Participants get into an actual vehicle (with battery disabled and car immobilized) and put on a virtual reality headset."
The Los Alamos stop will replicate the program’s standard participant flow: sensors on the gas and brake pedals and steering wheel feed the simulation, an external LED monitor displays the driver’s VR view in real time for bystanders, and participants complete an event survey on Android tablets to gauge pre/post knowledge and attitudes. Arrive Alive’s materials say "Upon exiting the vehicle, each participant is handed a mock citation detailing the ramifications of their simulation, as explained by a facilitator."
Sponsorship and outreach details in the available materials identify regional partners and national promotion. MoDOT’s Newsroom states "UNITE's Arrive Alive Tour is sponsored by the Southeast Coalition for Roadway Safety to bring this life-changing event to the community." The tour’s promotional history includes campus stops such as Penn State University Wilkes-Barre and media appearances promoted by the organizer, including a cited segment on Fox & Friends and a branded promotional video and brochure.

Missouri traffic data supplied with the program announcement provide context but are state-specific. MoDOT reported that "990 Missourians lost their lives due to traffic-related incidents" in 2023, that impaired driving accounts for approximately 25% of Missouri traffic fatalities, and that "distracted driving was a contributing factor in more than 19,000 crashes in 2022 alone." MoDOT also promotes its Show-Me Zero campaign, which "aims to achieve zero traffic fatalities by 2030." These figures are presented as background by the organizers; Los Alamos County’s release did not include New Mexico or Los Alamos-specific crash or fatality totals.
Los Alamos residents seeking more information can use the contact provided with MoDOT’s announcement: Nick Pitts at 888.436.3394. The county release did not include start time, age limits, registration requirements, or local sponsor details; those logistic items remain to be confirmed with Los Alamos County or UNITE. The Arrive Alive team's stated mission is plain in the materials: "to educate drivers on the dangers and consequences of impaired and distracted driving and to promote lifelong safe driving habits.
