Gallup Authorities Issue Multiple Alerts Seeking Two Missing Indigenous Adults
Gallup police seek tips on 27-year-old Raymond A. McClanahan, described as missing and believed in danger, and 47-year-old Belvina Harrison, last seen leaving the 3000 block of Blue Hill Avenue.

Local law enforcement and state officials circulated multiple missing-person alerts in mid-February seeking public help locating people last seen in the Gallup area, and separate public advisories identify two active cases: Raymond A. McClanahan and Belvina Harrison. The Gallup Sun reported on Feb. 15, 2026 that law enforcement issued multiple alerts seeking Indigenous adults; the specific advisories for McClanahan and Harrison are dated Dec. 3, 2022 and May 10, 2023, respectively.
The Gallup Police Department advisory for Raymond A. McClanahan lists him as a 27-year-old Caucasian male, 5'11" and 145 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. McClanahan was last seen around 8:40 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2022 near 827 North 9th Street in Gallup. He is believed to have been driving a white 1999 Jeep Cherokee with New Mexico plate 144TMB and was last reported wearing a black jacket with green stripes, light blue pants, white shoes, and a gray hat. The advisory states, in capitalized text, "McClanahan is MISSING and is believed to be in DANGER if not located." Anyone with information is asked to call the Gallup Police Department at (505) 722-2231 or dial 911.
The New Mexico Department of Public Safety distributed a May 11, 2023 Missing Endangered Person Advisory for 47-year-old Belvina Harrison. Harrison was last seen on May 10, 2023 leaving her residence on the 3000 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Gallup on foot. She is described as 5'0" and 170 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair, wearing a black sweatshirt and gray or black pants; she wears glasses and has a scar on her left thigh. The advisory instructs anyone with information to contact the Gallup Police Department or dial 911.
State-level figures and law enforcement actions show persistent demand for alerts from Gallup and nearby departments. According to recent counts provided to reporters, the Gallup Police Department has requested 11 state alerts; two were issued. State police determined a third case met alert criteria but the person was located before an alert issued. Eight police departments and sheriffs' offices made 27 requests in total, and state police rejected the majority, including 13 of 18 requests from Gallup and Farmington. The Farmington Police Department requested seven alerts; two were sent. Deputy Chief Dowdy said Farmington has continued to request alerts and hopes the Legislature will change the statute governing issuance.
Tribal advocates and officials signaled they want statutory language reviewed and implementation strengthened. "They’re open to taking another look at the language in the statute, Charley (Laguna Pueblo/Zuni Pueblo/Diné) and Abeyta (Diné) wrote," and "In the meantime, they’re working with DPS 'toward solutions that will strengthen implementation.'" Those signatories are also requesting funding for a full-time state employee to coordinate missing persons alerts, track alert data, and guide families through reporting.
Federal partners continue long-term outreach in Gallup-area cold cases. The FBI Albuquerque Division renewed a public request on the 35th anniversary of Anthonette Cayedito's disappearance from her family home on April 6, 1986; Acting Special Agent in Charge Eric S. Brown, Sr. said, "The FBI and our partners have checked out numerous tips as we continue to investigate this disappearance," and "We are asking anyone who might have information about this case to come forward now and help us find Anthonette."
