Multiple drug and violence charges filed in Menominee County court

Several defendants faced criminal charges in Shawano Menominee court late this month, with allegations ranging from drug distribution to homicide by delivery and victim intimidation. The filings and bond decisions matter to local residents because they touch public safety, child welfare, and the workload of county courts and correctional resources.

A string of criminal filings in Shawano Menominee court at the end of December brought a mix of drug related, violent, and public order charges into county dockets, according to court records posted December 28. Judge William Kussel Jr. handled pleas, bond settings, and sentencing decisions that will now shape a series of upcoming hearings and ongoing prosecutions.

Charley E. Estep of Shawano, age 40, pleaded no contest on December 23 to possession of narcotic drugs. Kussel imposed a prison sentence but stayed it, instead placing Estep on two years of probation subject to conditions. That outcome shifts supervision responsibility to probation services while removing an immediate prison placement.

On the same day Garrett L. West, 25, of Mantachie Mississippi, pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of battery and misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing an officer and fourth degree sexual assault. A related felony charge was dismissed in the plea agreement. Kussel assessed court costs and sentenced West to 75 days in county jail.

More serious charges also entered the docket. Angel E. Oshkeshequoam, 38, of Shawano was charged December 22 with first degree reckless homicide by delivering drugs. Her initial appearance has not yet taken place, and that charge carries significant criminal exposure and community concern given the fatal nature of reckless homicide allegations tied to drug distribution.

Several defendants were scheduled for preliminary hearings or held on cash bonds. Bernard G. Doud, 33, of Neopit faced charges including victim intimidation, robbery, multiple counts of misdemeanor bail jumping and disorderly conduct. Kussel set a five thousand dollar signature bond and in a separate filing charged Doud with felony and misdemeanor bail jumping, setting a five thousand dollar cash bond for that matter with preliminary hearings scheduled for December 29.

Two Mattoon residents, Camellia R. Muhs, 35, and Corey A. Welch, 39, were each charged December 23 with multiple counts including possession with intent to distribute cocaine and amphetamine or methamphetamine, maintaining a drug trafficking place, felony bail jumping and related counts. Kussel set seventy five thousand dollar cash bonds for both and scheduled preliminary hearings for December 29.

Finally Guy S. Pamonicutt, 25, of Keshena was charged December 26 with substantial battery and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct. Kussel set a one thousand dollar signature bond and scheduled a preliminary hearing for March 2.

These filings highlight ongoing enforcement activity around drug distribution and interpersonal violence in the county, and they raise policy questions about bail practices, child safety in cases with neglect allegations, and the capacity of local courts and corrections to process complex cases. Residents seeking to follow developments should monitor court dockets and attend public hearings when possible, and county officials will need to manage prosecutorial resources, probation supervision, and child welfare responses as cases move forward.
