College of the Florida Keys Offers Three Flexible Summer 2026 Terms
CFK structured three summer 2026 terms starting as early as May 18, with application fees waived at Key West and Key Largo events on April 29 and 30.

The College of the Florida Keys structured its Summer 2026 schedule around three distinct terms, giving students from Key Largo to Key West multiple entry points for earning college credit before fall, with registration open through May 1.
The three options span different formats and timeframes. The Accelerated Six-Week Term runs May 18 to June 29, packing full-credit coursework into a concentrated sprint suited to students who want to move quickly through degree requirements. The 100-percent online 12-Week Term runs the same start date through August 10, built for working adults or students whose summer schedules don't anchor them to a single location. The eight-week Summer Kickstart, running June 3 to August 10, targets students entering college for the first time, with foundational courses including English Composition I, Preparing for Student Success, and an introduction to teaching.
The Summer Kickstart operates in a hybrid-flexible model, meaning new students can attend classes in person at the Key West campus or participate virtually. CFK designed both formats to fit the realities of a county workforce spread across 125 miles of islands, where seasonal employment and varied commutes make fixed schedules difficult.
Students who want hands-on help with applications and financial aid before the May 1 deadline can attend CFK's "One Stop Summer Shop" events at two locations this month: Key West on April 29 and the Upper Keys Center in Key Largo on April 30. Attendees can have application fees waived on the spot and receive information on scholarships available for the summer terms.
CFK, founded in 1965 as Monroe Junior College, now offers bachelor's programs and workforce certificates alongside traditional associate degrees. The Summer Kickstart in particular is designed not only to build credits but to connect incoming students with support services before the fall term begins, a strategy aimed at improving retention in a county where many students balance coursework with jobs in hospitality, marine trades, healthcare, and education.
Students can apply online or visit the Key West campus and the Upper Keys Center in person. CFK's recruitment manager is available to answer questions on admissions and financial aid for any of the three terms.
