Monroe County Sheriff's Sergeant Arrested for Falsifying Timesheets, Billing Pay While Home

Sgt. Eric Mixon, 53, a School Resource Officer sergeant with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, was arrested March 26 on seven counts of official misconduct after investigators determined he had claimed full workdays on a substantial number of shifts while never leaving his residence, according to the sheriff's office.

The arrest followed a detailed review of Mixon's work-related activity, equipment logs, and other digital evidence that investigators say revealed a pattern of deception. Records showed he claimed full workdays for a significant number of shifts during which he remained at home for the duration of his scheduled hours. Authorities have not publicly specified which equipment logs or digital records were examined, nor the exact number of days or dollar amount involved.

Mixon had been with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office since January 18, 1995, a tenure spanning more than 31 years. He served as a sergeant overseeing School Resource Officers at the time of the alleged misconduct. Shortly after being interviewed by investigators regarding the discrepancies in his hours, he officially retired from the agency earlier in March 2026, before the arrest.

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay addressed the arrest directly. "I take officer integrity and fiscal responsibility very seriously and I am committed to being transparent when both positive and negative examples arise," Ramsay said in a statement.

The investigation into Mixon's conduct began earlier this month, according to authorities. The case remains under review, and no court date, bond information, or formal prosecutor charging decision has been announced. Mixon has not issued a public statement, and no attorney has been identified on his behalf.
