Larry Johnson Sentenced to 10 Years for Child Sexual Assault in Morgan County

Larry Johnson, 41, of Stratford Lane off Sandusky Road was sentenced last week in Morgan County Court to 10 years in prison after admitting to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, capping a case that stretched back more than seven years to a September 2018 incident involving a child under 13.

Two additional counts of the same charge were dropped as part of the proceedings. Johnson was also fined $2,000.

The case carried an unusually prolonged legal history rooted in questions about Johnson's mental fitness. He was originally found unfit to stand trial and received treatment at the McFarland Mental Health Center before a subsequent evaluation found him fit to proceed in Morgan County Court.

The September 2018 incident, involving a victim under the age of 13, predates Johnson's initial fitness determination by several years. Court records identifying the precise dates of the competency proceedings, the name of the sentencing judge, and the terms of any plea arrangement were not immediately available.
