Man Arrested After Assault Leaves Chevron Employee Unconscious in East Los Angeles
A Hollywood-area transient was arrested after pushing a Chevron clerk to the ground at a South Atlantic Avenue store, leaving the worker with a critical head injury requiring brain surgery.

Quandrell Ivey, a 37-year-old Hollywood-area transient, was taken into custody after a March 17 robbery at a Chevron convenience store on the 200 block of South Atlantic Avenue in East Los Angeles left a store employee with a severe head injury requiring brain surgery.
Surveillance video captured Ivey removing food items from a display and walking toward the front door without stopping at the register. When an employee moved to block his exit, Ivey shoved the worker to the ground, knocking him unconscious, and fled the store.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department described the sequence in a statement: "Suspect Ivey bypassed the manned register and walked toward the door without attempting to pay for the items. An employee attempted to stop Suspect Ivey from exiting the store. Suspect Ivey pushed the employee to the ground, rendering him unconscious, and fled the location."
The victim required brain surgery for a critical head injury. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m., and deputies subsequently identified Ivey as the suspect through further investigation. A warrant was issued before Ivey was eventually located and taken into custody, with the Sheriff's Department confirming the arrest in a case update.
