Adult Male Pedestrian Killed by Sedan on Charleston Park Avenue in Pahrump

One adult male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene after a passenger sedan struck him on eastbound Charleston Park Avenue just west of Happy Lane in Pahrump, Nevada, troopers said. Nevada Highway Patrol investigators responded to the crash at about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, and authorities confirmed the driver of the sedan remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The vehicle involved was described by investigators as a passenger sedan; no make, model or color was released in preliminary reports. Nearby lanes were shut down while crews processed the scene, and motorists were urged to avoid the area as traffic was diverted around the crash site.

Officials reported localized road closures affecting Happy Lane during the response. News reports quoted the closure phrased two ways: “Happy Lane between Wood Chips was closed, and motorists were advised to use alternate routes and avoid the area,” and “Happy Lane was closed near Woodchips Road while crews worked the scene.” Emergency responders blocked multiple lanes on Charleston Park Avenue while troopers conducted on-scene work.

Nevada Highway Patrol has described the inquiry as preliminary and ongoing. “Nevada Highway Patrol said additional information will be released after the preliminary investigation,” officials said, and troopers asked the public for help locating any witnesses or video that could assist the probe.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name in the Charleston Park Avenue collision in the reports available to date. That contrasts with Pahrump reporting practice in a separate Feb. 16 crash, in which the Pahrump Valley Times quoted an NHP press release saying the coroner would release a name after next-of-kin notification; in this Charleston Park case no coroner identification or next-of-kin statement has been published.

For context on regional trends, local reporting has noted multiple recent pedestrian fatalities investigated by state patrol units. In a different Pahrump incident on Feb. 16, NHP dispatch records show troopers were sent to Quarter Horse Avenue just south of McGraw Road at approximately 7:04 p.m., where “a green 2006 Jeep Liberty sport utility vehicle was traveling southbound on Quarter Horse Avenue, just south of McGraw Road” and struck a pedestrian walking in the southbound lane, a press release read. That separate investigation involved the State Police Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team and Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene.

Nevada Highway Patrol continues to handle the Charleston Park Avenue investigation and has urged anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has video to contact NHP investigators as officials prepare to release further details following the preliminary investigation.
