Representatives from American First National Bank made the drive from Amargosa Valley to Beatty last week to present a $2,000 grant check to the Beatty Senior Center, continuing what branch manager and vice president Rosalee Clasen described as approximately five or six years of consecutive annual giving to the center.

Beatty Seniors Inc., the nonprofit that manages the Senior Center, applied for the grant on the center's behalf. The bank's board of directors approved it before Clasen and Amargosa Valley branch teller Diana Sandoval traveled to Beatty for the March 13 presentation. Volunteer Susie Jackson was also present at the handover.

Clasen, who oversees both the Pahrump and Amargosa Valley branches out of the bank's location at 1600 S. Highway 373 in Amargosa Valley, was direct about the bank's motivation. "Our company is very generous and likes to invest in the communities we serve," she said. "The board approved the grant, and we've been giving ever since."

The Beatty Senior Center serves residents age 50 and up, providing nutritious meals Monday through Friday with dine-in, carry-out, and home delivery options, alongside social activities and access to community resources. Officials said partnerships like the bank's annual grant help sustain those meal programs and activities that keep seniors connected and supported throughout the year.

The bank's own page characterizes the 2026 contribution as the fifth consecutive year of support, while Clasen put the range at approximately five or six years. The exact start year of the grant program was not confirmed in available records.

The 2026 grant brings renewed financial footing to a center that functions as one of the few dedicated gathering and nutrition hubs serving older residents in this stretch of northern Nye County.
