Dawg House Rescuers hosts family fun day to boost dog adoptions
Free admission, adoptable dogs and $35 microchipping will anchor Dawg House Rescuers’ Family Fun Day at Pet Supplies Plus in Pahrump.

Families looking to adopt a dog will find free entry, a bounce house, mechanical bull rides, face painting, a snack shack, live music, raffle baskets, a prize wheel and the Smooch the Pooch booth at Dawg House Rescuers’ Family Fun Day in Pahrump.
The event is set for Saturday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus, 70 S Nevada Highway 160, Pahrump, NV 89048-2161. Some activities will carry small charges, and microchipping with lifetime registration will be offered for $35.

The adoption side remains the centerpiece. Dawg House Rescuers says the dogs available that day will already be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, removing several of the biggest costs and hurdles that can slow down adoptions. The rescue also describes those animals in its listings as “new home ready,” a label that reflects services already included in the adoption fee.
For Dawg House Rescuers, the day is also a pressure valve for the work it carries year-round in Nye County. The nonprofit says its mission is rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of lost, dumped or injured animals in the community, with secondary programs focused on pet health, return-to-owner efforts, spay and neuter education, and the importance of microchips and GPS or electronic identification.
That is why the microchip table matters as much as the adoption pens. Valerie Iori has described a case in which a microchipped dog got loose and was back with its owner within an hour. In a community where a pet can disappear fast, that kind of turnaround is a strong argument for the $35 service being offered alongside the adoptions.
The Family Fun Day is being supported by Pet Supplies Plus, Axe Exterminators, Fobian Farm Fresh Eggs and the Pahrump Disability Outreach Program, giving the rescue a wider base of local backing than a standard adoption drive. The setup turns one afternoon into a mix of family outing, fundraising and pet-safety outreach, while keeping the focus on moving rescued dogs into homes and out of uncertainty.
