Domestic shooting in Pahrump's Mountain Falls injures two; one airlifted, suspect arrested

Two people were shot Thursday morning in the Mountain Falls master-planned community in Pahrump, and a suspect is in custody, Nye County Sheriff’s Office deputies said. One victim was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas for further treatment and the other received care locally, officials reported.

Deputies with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office responded around mid-morning to reports of a domestic incident in the Mountain Falls area near Mountain Falls Parkway and Coca Lane, according to law-enforcement statements and local reporting. Upon arrival, officers located two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds and began processing the scene.

“Police can confirm that two people were shot and suspect is in custody. Additionally, one of the victims has been airlifted to UMC in Las Vegas for further treatment,” KVVU/FOX5 reported, citing Nye County deputies. Authorities have not released the victims’ names or their current medical conditions.

Police emphasized there is no broader public threat. “Police say there are no suspects outstanding, and there is no further danger to the public,” KVVU added. Media coverage of the response notes that no charges or booking details for the person in custody have been released to the public so far.

Investigators remained active at the scene Thursday, interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence, while residents in Mountain Falls could expect an increased law-enforcement presence as detectives pursue leads, local outlets reported. TheNevadaGlobe reported that officials with the sheriff’s office said the shooting “appeared to stem from a private dispute,” a characterization attributed to investigators handling the case.

A preliminary, fragmented report identified the scene as a residence on Jujube Street; other coverage places the call near the Mountain Falls Parkway and Coca Lane intersection. That apparent discrepancy has not been reconciled by an official Nye County Sheriff’s Office address confirmation, and newsroom sources are seeking verification from NCSO dispatch and the department’s public information officer.
