Nye County Seeks Applicants for Hospital District Board Trustee Seat
Nye County is accepting applications through April 6 at 5 p.m. for an open seat on the Northern Nye County Hospital District Board of Trustees, with the term running through January 2029.

With just three days left to apply, Nye County is calling on eligible residents to fill an open seat on the Northern Nye County Hospital District Board of Trustees, with applications due by 5 p.m. on April 6.
The vacancy carries a term running through January 2029, placing whoever fills the seat at the center of rural healthcare governance for one of Nevada's most geographically isolated communities. Tonopah and the surrounding northern Nye County region sit more than 100 miles from the nearest full-service hospitals, in Bishop, California and Hawthorne in Mineral County, making the district's work especially consequential for the thousands of residents who depend on locally arranged services.
The Northern Nye County Hospital District was established in May 2015 by the Nye County Board of Commissioners under Nevada Revised Statutes 450.550 and Resolution No. 2015-17. Its stated purpose is to facilitate accessible healthcare services for residents of and visitors to Northern Nye County, a mission that has included coordinating agreements with outside health networks to bring care closer to communities like Gabbs and Round Mountain.
The Board of Trustees typically meets on the first and third Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. in the County Commission Chambers at 101 Radar Road in Tonopah. Trustees set policy direction and make decisions on contracts, budgets, and service agreements that directly shape what medical resources are available to northern Nye County residents.
Applicants must reside within the hospital district boundaries. Those seeking more information or application materials can contact the district's administrative secretary by email at nnchd.as@gmail.com or visit the County Manager's Office at 101 Radar Road in Tonopah or 2100 E. Walt Williams Drive in Pahrump. Additional information is available through the county's official website.
The April 6 deadline leaves little time for interested residents to act.
