Nye County Senior Centers Announce Meals and Services Jan 12-16
Nye County senior centers in Pahrump, Beatty and Amargosa will offer set meals, pickup and home-delivery options, and activity programs for the week of January 12-16. The schedules and low-cost offerings matter for local seniors who rely on congregate meals for nutrition, social connection and access to care supports.

Senior centers across Nye County will serve weekday meals and continue supportive services for older residents during the week of January 12-16. The Pahrump Senior Center will open at 9 a.m. with meals served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; homebound meals for regular seniors will be delivered though no drive-up service will be available. Masks are not required at Pahrump if vaccinated. The center can be reached at 775-727-5008.
Pahrump’s menu for the week will include beef patty over rice with brown gravy, peas and carrots and mandarin oranges with chicken white bean soup on Monday; chicken cordon bleu with roasted potatoes, Normandy blend vegetables and a strawberry cup with beef pasta soup on Tuesday; meatloaf with mashed potatoes, whole wheat bread, steamed spinach and a mixed berry fruit cup with chicken noodle soup on Wednesday; a low-sodium ham steak with baked beans, corn and peaches with chicken cheddar broccoli soup on Thursday; and mambo pork roast with a corn muffin, broccoli, tossed salad with garlic French dressing and cantaloupe with red bean beef chili soup on Friday. The center also offers a full schedule of activities including poker, beading, crochet, BINGO-size fitness, haircuts, craft class, blind support, knitting, TOPS meeting and a Fusion Belly Dance class.
Beatty Senior Center will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, with an additional dinner service on Monday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Pickup is available and the center asks patrons to call 775-382-5702 for arrangements. Meals include soup of the day, a green salad, dessert and drinks. The weekly lineup will be stuffed bell peppers for Monday dinner, chicken pot pie on Tuesday, goulash on Wednesday, grilled cheese on rye on Thursday and shepherd’s pie on Friday. Prices are set to keep meals affordable: seniors $5, adults under 60 $6 and children under 17 $5.
Amargosa Senior Center will serve meals Tuesday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will offer breakfast on Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Patrons seeking home delivery or more information should call 775-372-5413 and are asked to call the day before delivery. The menu will feature a low-sodium sausage and eggs breakfast with home fries and mixed berries on Monday; chili-cheese baked potato with carrots and a banana muffin on Tuesday; the center will be closed Wednesday; pork chow mein with chopped spinach and pineapple on Thursday; and a cheese omelet breakfast with roasted herb potatoes and low-sodium sausage patties on Friday.
These congregate meal programs play a vital role in addressing food security and chronic disease management for older residents in rural Nye County, providing low-cost, nutritionally designed options and daily social contact that can reduce isolation.
