Pahrump Fire Station Hosts Red Cross Blood Drive March 19
Pahrump Valley Fire & Rescue opens its Highway 160 training room Thursday for a Red Cross blood drive running 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; book with sponsor code "Pahrump."

Pahrump Valley Fire & Rescue is opening its Highway 160 training room to blood donors Thursday, March 19, running an American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled using sponsor code "Pahrump" at redcrossblood.org or by calling 1-800-733-2767. The station sits at 300 N. Highway 160, the same address PVFR has used for previous drives.
Fire Chief Scott Lewis has pointed to blood donation as central to what the department does for Pahrump beyond emergency response. "Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue regularly hosts blood drives because we understand how important it is to the sense of community," Lewis said. "Blood is essential for so many different surgical and emergency medical procedures."
Thursday's drive is part of a recurring pattern of donation events at the station. In June 2024, PVFR partnered with Mercy Air to host a drive at the same location, running identical hours from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Red Cross tied a shirt giveaway to that event for anyone who donated between May 20 and June 9 of that year.
PVFR has also partnered with Nathan Adelson Hospice for drives at Station 1. At those events, the hospice typically sees 25 to 28 donors and has set a target of 32. "Pahrump is a great community. Our residents want to help out. Blood donations are a wonderful way to give," said Vivian McCuneo of Nathan Adelson Hospice.
PVFR plans to hold additional blood drives later in the year, though no specific dates have been announced. For Thursday's drive, donors should book in advance through redcrossblood.org using sponsor code "Pahrump," or call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767.
