Pahrump Lady Trojans Hold Amplus Academy to Four, Win 50 to 4
The Pahrump Valley Lady Trojans overwhelmed Amplus Academy with a stifling defense Wednesday night, rolling to a 50 to 4 victory that turned on a dominant first half. The win gives the Trojans momentum heading into a busy holiday tournament stretch, and puts head coach Bob Hopkins one victory away from his 650th career win.

Pahrump Valley turned what began as a routine league game into a defensive showcase on Wednesday, limiting Amplus Academy to a single four point quarter and triggering the running clock in the third quarter en route to a 50 to 4 win. The Trojans led 35 to 4 at halftime and reached a 35 point margin with 6 minutes 33 seconds remaining in the third quarter, prompting the running clock rule.
Junior guard Riley Saldana paced Pahrump with 19 points and seven rebounds while ranking seventh in Nevada for points per game behind Carson Senators guard Ashlan Smokey. Saldana scored from multiple spots on the floor and buried a corner three late in the third quarter to push the lead to 42 to 4. Sophomore Ella Odegard added eight points, making four of six shots, and helped ignite the offense with a clean jumper early after halftime.
The Trojans defense produced a flurry of takeaways. Autumn Colon, Saldana, and Odegard each finished with five steals. Kaitlyn Brown added four steals, Emily Zargoza and Addi Nelsen each had three, and Aurora Bowers recorded two. Pahrump finished with 19 turnovers, which was 10 fewer than the 29 steals the team recorded, a statistical sign of both defensive pressure and opportunistic offense. Nearly every player in the rotation scored, with only three Trojans held off the scoresheet.

The victory moves Pahrump to two wins and two losses overall, and one win and two losses in the 3A Southern League. Beyond the standings, the performance should boost confidence as the team travels for the HBCU Holiday Jam at Valley High School, running December 19 through December 23. Pahrump is scheduled to play on Saturday December 20 and Monday December 22.
For the local community the rout is a reminder of the program's depth and a potential inflection point for the season. Coach Bob Hopkins remains one win shy of his 650th career victory, an achievement that would underline his longevity in regional high school athletics.
