Pahrump Valley Cross Country Caps Historic Season With Awards
Pahrump Valley High School held its annual cross country awards ceremony on December 18, 2025 to celebrate one of the program's most successful seasons. Both the boys and girls teams finished as 3A Southern Region champions, and the girls team recorded the highest state finish in program history by taking third at the 3A Nevada State Championships.

Athletes, families, and coaches gathered on December 18, 2025 at Pahrump Valley High School for a potluck dinner, a season highlight slideshow, and an evening of awards that recognized athletic achievement and academic performance from the fall season. The ceremony capped a campaign in which both the boys and girls teams won the 3A Southern Region title, and the girls team placed third at the 3A Nevada State Championships, the program's best state finish to date.
Individual honors reflected regional dominance. In the 3A All Region girls division six of Pahrump's seven regional championship runners earned First Team All Region recognition. Those athletes are Jules Ondrisko, Sophie Romero, Rylan Bliss, Kaylan Robinson, Rosie Miller, and Addi Nelsen. On the boys side Joaquin Flores and Josh Gent were named First Team All Region, while Logan Tilley, Aydon Veloz, Timmy Stutzman, Josh Flores, and Ben De Santiago earned Second Team All Region. State recognition included All State honors and honorable mentions for several athletes, and academic honors were also presented to student runners.
Coaching staff garnered regional awards that speak to program stability and leadership. Coach Tahlia Sherlock and Coach Bryce Odegard were voted Best Assistant Coaches in the Southern Region, and Coach Erik Odegard was named Southern Region Head Coach of the Year. The evening also highlighted individual team awards including the Lionheart Award, Trojan Award, Tough as Nails Award, Most Improved, Rookies of the Year, Coaches Award, and team MVPs, illustrating an emphasis on character and development as well as performance.

The season's results carry local implications beyond trophies. Sustained competitive success can strengthen college recruitment prospects for standout athletes, reinforce community support for school athletics, and justify investment by the Nye County School District in coaching and facilities. Successful regional teams also create opportunities to host meets that bring visitors to Pahrump, supporting local businesses. Over the longer term the combination of athletic excellence and academic recognition may help boost participation rates in school sports, which research links to higher graduation and college enrollment rates.
For families and residents, the ceremony underscored both immediate pride and the longer term value of investing in youth programs that build skills, leadership, and community ties.
