Pahrump Valley’s track and field teams measured themselves against a much larger class of competition and came away with a strong showing at the 5th annual Red Rock Running Invitational, where 24 boys teams and 24 girls teams lined up at Shadow Ridge High School in Las Vegas.

The boys finished 14th with 16 points and the girls tied for 12th with 13 points, solid results in fields dominated by larger 5A programs. Loyola won the boys title with 124 points, while Centennial took the girls crown with 162.33 points, underscoring how deep the competition was on both sides.

The Trojans got off to a good start in the opening relay races. Ben De Santiago, Joaquin Flores, Logan Tilley and Josh Gent placed fourth in the boys 4x800 in 8:44.28. Addi Nelsen, Ava Bowers, Avery Farruggia and Alexis Clouser followed with a fifth-place finish in the girls 4x800, clocking 11:29.00.

Pahrump Valley also picked up meaningful personal records in the hurdles. Aeden Redditt ran 20.38 in the boys 110-meter hurdles for a personal best, and Ulisses Alvarez followed in 20.48, also a personal best. Logan Whaley added 22.57. On the girls side, Diona Nixon placed 13th in 18.06, while Ella Odegard and Kyndra Cardwell also recorded personal bests.

The speed events added more points and more signs of depth. In the boys 100 meters, Redditt, Justin Byers and Jace Wulfenstein turned in solid races. Ma’liyah Collins, Christine Williams and Anjolina Mercado handled the girls sprint heat, while the Trojans continued to piece together competitive relay runs in the 4x200 and 4x100.

Distance work rounded out the day. Logan Tilley and Josh Gent had strong results in the 1600 meters, and Jules Ondrisko and Ava Bowers posted notable girls finishes as Pahrump Valley spread its scoring across multiple events instead of leaning on a single standout.

The Red Rock results fit a broader trend for the program. In a 2024 state meet recap, Pahrump Valley’s boys finished eighth of 23 teams and the girls were seventh of 20, and both squads placed second in the Southern Region. Head coach Dan Nagle put it simply: “Track is the greatest team individual sport!” That approach has carried into 2026, after the Trojans opened the season against a mix of 5A and 4A programs at Faith Lutheran and arrived at Shadow Ridge with a returning core and experienced leadership.
