Brooklyn Man Rodney Allen Pleads Guilty to 1-kg Cocaine After Monroe Stop
Rodney Allen, 58, of Brooklyn pleaded guilty Feb. 18 in Orange County Court after a Monroe traffic stop on Sept. 27, 2025 led troopers to cocaine; prosecutors will seek 10 years and 5 years post-release supervision.

Rodney Allen, 58, of Brooklyn pleaded guilty on Feb. 18 in Orange County Court to Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree after New York State Police say a late‑night traffic stop in the Town of Monroe led to the discovery of cocaine. Under a plea agreement placed on the record, the People will recommend a sentence of 10 years in state prison followed by five years of post‑release supervision when Allen is sentenced on May 5, 2026.
District Attorney David M. Hoovler commented on the case, saying, “We see every day the dangers posed by narcotics sold to those suffering from addiction. We remain committed to holding those offenders responsible for trafficking in these poisons.” Hoovler added that the significant sentence expected in the case “should stand as a warning to those who might consider seeking to profit in the drug trade.”

The underlying stop occurred at about 10:50 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2025 when a state trooper pulled Allen over in the Town of Monroe for speeding, according to local reporting and the DA’s announcement. The trooper observed signs of impairment, administered field sobriety tests that Allen failed, attempted to place him under arrest, and took him into custody after Allen resisted the arrest, prosecutors and police reports say. A subsequent search of Allen’s vehicle produced cocaine, prosecutors reported.
Reporting on the amount of narcotics recovered varies across local outlets. Mid‑Hudson News and the Daily Voice reported police found more than one kilogram of cocaine in Allen’s vehicle after the Monroe stop. Other accounts, including a NewsBreak aggregation and a report of Allen’s plea allocution cited by Daily Voice, state Allen admitted during his plea to unlawfully possessing more than eight ounces of cocaine. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office placed the plea agreement terms on the record but the weight reported by outlets differs; court documents and the plea allocution should clarify the precise quantity.
The case was investigated by the New York State Police and, according to local reporting, prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Cassidy Turi. The DA’s office announced the plea and the People’s sentencing recommendation on Feb. 18; sentencing is scheduled for May 5, 2026 in Orange County Court. Allen faces the disposition the People will seek under the plea agreement of 10 years in state prison followed by five years of post‑release supervision at that hearing.
