The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cornell Cooperative Extension Orange County are taking advance orders for their annual soil sale fundraiser, with a single pickup window on Tuesday, April 7, at the CCE Orange County Office Building on 18 Seward Avenue in Middletown.

The product is Premiere Pro Mix with Mycorrhizae, a professional-grade growing mix sold in 2.8-cubic-foot bags at $40 each. Supply is limited, and orders must be placed before the pickup date. Anyone who wants a bag should contact Katy Boula at keb332@cornell.edu or call 845-344-1234 x240 to order.

Pickup runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 7, and the policy on unclaimed orders is firm: any soil not picked up by 6 p.m. will be forfeited and no refunds will be issued. Buyers who cannot make it that day must arrange for someone else to collect on their behalf.

The sale doubles as a fundraiser supporting the Orange County Master Gardener Volunteer Program, a corps that graduated 16 new trainees on December 7, 2024, adding to the 90 volunteers already in service. Those volunteers teach gardening classes and workshops, work with school and community gardens, write for the Gardening in Orange County Blog, and staff a Garden Helpline reachable at mghelpline@cornell.edu or (845) 343-0660.

The CCE Orange County event calendar also shows 2026 Gardening Classes, taught by Master Gardener Volunteers on Saturday mornings starting April 18, for anyone looking to continue their gardening education after picking up their soil.
