Goshen attorney Susie Sohn wins 2026 Distinguished Attorney award
Susie Sohn’s practice touches Goshen property deals, business sales and landlord-tenant disputes, and Orange and Sullivan lawyers have named her to their 2026 honor roll.

Orange and Sullivan lawyers have named Goshen native Susie Sohn to the 2026 Distinguished Attorney Member award, a recognition that reflects more than a single honor. It points to a lawyer whose daily work reaches commercial transactions, real estate matters, business sales, commercial leasing, guardianship, landlord-tenant cases and code prosecution across Orange and surrounding counties.
Sohn is a partner at Blustein, Shapiro, Frank & Barone, LLP, after joining the firm in 2020 and being promoted from associate to partner effective Sept. 1, 2023. That kind of practice matters in Orange County, where lawyers who handle property, business and family-related disputes often move between local offices and the courthouse at 285 Main Street in Goshen, home to Orange Supreme & County Court. Those issues also sit at the center of the New York State Unified Court System’s broader caseload, which handles more than three million cases a year, including commercial disputes, trust and estates matters and landlord-tenant cases.
The Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties said the Distinguished Member award honors an attorney who has achieved professional excellence, served both the chapter and the community, and shown leadership in either setting. The chapter said Sohn fits that standard through her legal work and her civic record, which includes service on the Orange County Land Trust board since 2021 and her role as president-elect of the Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties.
Her recognition also reflects a career that extends beyond local practice. Before joining Blustein, Shapiro, Frank & Barone, Sohn worked on private-equity real estate, economic development matters, lease transactions and procurement work for New York City pension funds, as well as the New York City Economic Development Corporation. That experience has helped shape a practice that connects regional business interests with the legal mechanics of development, leasing and ownership.

The award adds to a growing list of professional acknowledgment. Hudson Valley Magazine has named Sohn a Top Lawyer from 2024 through 2026, and its 2026 guide lists her in the Business Law category at 10 Matthews Street in the Village of Goshen, with the firm’s office number listed as 845-291-0011.
The Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties is one of 20 chapters of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York, which has more than 4,400 members. The Orange and Sullivan chapter traces its roots to the former Tri-County Women’s Bar Association and took its current form in 1979. Its annual awards dinner is traditionally held in April, underscoring the local legal community’s habit of turning professional achievement into public recognition.
