Goshen girls golf caps perfect 22-0 season

Goshen High School's girls golf program did not just win, it ran through Orange County and beyond without a loss, finishing 22-0 overall and 13-0 in league play. The perfect season turned a strong year into a clear statement for a sport that often gets less attention than bigger fall programs. It also gave Goshen another marker of sustained success, not a one-year spike.

Head coach Eric Harris pointed to three tight matches as season-shaping moments, including wins over Monroe-Woodbury, Marlboro and Port Jervis. He credited senior captains Isabella Ok, Jillian Pucci and Mary Ellen Collins for setting the tone, with Ok playing in every match for Goshen in 2026. Harris said Collins and Pucci helped steady a young roster, while Ok provided the kind of durability that keeps a team on track over an entire schedule.

That leadership mattered because Goshen's success was built as much on culture as on scorecards. Harris said the program had also gone undefeated the previous season, extending a run that began long before this spring. He took over after Jim Polanis spent more than 20 years building the girls golf program, and the continuity from one era to the next has helped turn Goshen into a yearly contender in Section IX.

The season's numbers backed up the record. Goshen Central School District reported that Ok finished second at the Section IX Tournament with a 152, while Collins placed 13th with a 204. Nine Section IX golfers qualified for the NYS Championships in Rochester on June 7-8, 2026, keeping Goshen in the middle of a postseason picture that reached beyond Orange County.

The program's resume now stretches back several seasons. Goshen won the Section IX title in 2022 and finished undefeated that year as well, with Grace Allan, Isabella Ok, Jillian Pucci, Sofia Fini, Ruby Beers and Chloe Griffin among the players on that roster. The district says athletics is meant to support students' physical, mental, social, emotional and moral well-being, and Goshen's girls golf team offered a strong example of that mission in action.
